About us

For more than 50 years, the Department of Applied Mathematics at Lviv Polytechnic National University has been preserving and multiplying rich scientific and educational traditions, tirelessly preparing new generations of qualified personnel in the fields of applied mathematics and computer science, enriching them intellectually and spiritually.

Educational process

Students of the department receive in-depth fundamental and specialized training during lectures, practical and laboratory classes. Practical work skills are acquired during internships at leading IT companies, research institutions, and enterprise computing centers. The best students of the department undergo internships and training practices at prestigious higher education institutions in Europe.

Scientific work

The department conducts research work on the basis of grants from Ukraine and Europe. There are postgraduate and doctoral programs. The best students of the department are involved in research work and are recommended for admission to graduate school. They are supervised by the leading teachers of the department. Many graduates of our department have become candidates and doctors of science. Educational and professional training programs provide a sufficient level of training for the modern labor market. All this enables our graduates to become qualified specialists in applied mathematics and computer science and find themselves in the labor markets of Ukraine and the world.


Training laboratories

The training laboratory is located at: 4th academic building, room 225.

The training laboratory contains three computer classes, each of which is equipped with modern technology and all the software necessary for student training.

The Department of Applied Mathematics participates in the MSDN Academic Alliance program, which provides access to a wide range of modern Microsoft products for educational and training purposes:

  1. all MSDN AA software is available free of charge to all students, graduate students and teachers of the department for non-commercial use for educational, scientific and research purposes;
  2. all software can be installed on any number of computers in classrooms and laboratories of the department;
  3. teachers, staff and students of the department can install the software received within the MSDN AA on their personal PCs.
